While Glock was making the G19X, combining a full length 17-length grip with a compact 19-length slide, Brownells went the other direction. The Brownells Glock 17LS Long Slide is a replacement slide for any third generation Glock G19.

It’s what most people are looking for: the sight radius and more manageable recoil of a longer slide, but a shorter grip for concealment purposes. Before now, the only way to accomplish that was to start with a Glock G17, then have the grip cut down. Not only is it expensive to have it done properly by an experienced shop, a do-it-yourself approach can permanently damage your gun. Either way, you can’t go back after a grip chop.

With the 17LS, Brownells has made it possible to start with a Glock 19, so that no frame modifications are necessary to get the hybrid of long slide and short grip. All that’s needed is to take off the original slide and put the 17LS on with the extended barrel made to go with it. When you want to go back to a fully compact gun, you can reverse the process in moments.

The 17LS comes with both front and rear cocking serrations. It’s available either as a standard slide with only iron sights, or with iron sights and milled for a Trijicon RMR optical red dot. Brownells’ choice of standard Glock dovetails allows all sights to be easily replaced with the sights of your choice. Similarly, other Glock-compatible upgrades will work with the slide.

MSRP is $269.99 for the standard 17LS and $299.99 for the RMR-ready 17LS. The extended barrel that is needed to work with the 17LS is $169.99, or $179.99 for a threaded version ready to accept a compensator or similar accessory.
